Katherine Ostiguy has trained dogs professionally since 2008. She has a true passion for teaching owners how to train their dogs. A proud Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, she uses positive reinforcement with dogs and their handlers to teach them new skills, solve problem behaviors, and have great fun in the process!
An agility competitor since 2005, Katherine has competed in agility with an English Springer Spaniel and two Shetland Sheepdogs. Her sheltie Strata has earned his MACH title, competed at AKC Nationals and International Team Tryouts, and is a multi-year USDAA Northeast Regionals finalist.
Katherine is devoted to continuing education. Every year she attends major dog training conferences to stay current on the latest techniques. In recent years she has learned at three ClickerExpos and two International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants conferences. She also makes an effort to learn from international agility stars such as Silvia Trkman, Susan Garrett, and Jenny Damm, by attending their seminars and participating in online classes.
Because of her diverse background, Katherine considers agility “problem solving” to be a specialty of hers. She has first-hand experience working through ring stress, fear, reactivity, distractibility and is comfortable working with “non-traditional” agility dogs. Additionally, she is patient and creative with handlers who are new to the sport and junior handlers. All dogs and all handlers are welcome at Crossbones.
