Crossbones Dog Academy is a dog training & daycare facility with a unique Day School program that combines daycare and training for dogs and puppies. At this time, we are looking for part-time and/or full-time experienced dog daycare attendants (25-40 hours per week) to supervise playgroups, take care of dogs, and clean and maintain the facility. Interested candidates must be available to work 9AM-5:30PM or 10AM-6:30PM 5 days a week, Monday through Friday.

This person would supervise groups of dogs solo (3-10 dogs) or with one other attendant (10-15 dogs), indoors and outdoors, in all weather and temperatures. During playgroups, tasks include cleaning up after the dogs, rewarding dogs for good behavior, gently but firmly interrupting and redirecting dogs engaging in undesirable behavior, taking pictures and videos of the dogs for social media content. Outside of playgroups, tasks include updating reports on dogs’ behavior, filling food-dispensing toys and distributing them to dogs, taking dogs outside for individual potty breaks, and cleaning the facility.

Our team members participate in open and frequent communication in person, over walkie talkies, and digitally through Slack. We’re looking for someone we can rely on, a new team member who works hard, has strong communication skills, and who loves dogs AND people. Are you our next team member?

1+ year of prior full-time employment experience is required. This position has lots of room for growth. We have a clear growth trajectory for team members in this position to become fully-fledged Professional Dog Trainers. 

The ideal candidate for this position would have…

  • 1+ year experience supervising off-leash dog play
  • Pet First Aid/CPR certification
  • Experience using clicker training and positive reinforcement dog training
  • A commitment to continuing education

Pay is hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and starting at $17.50 per hour. Full-time employees are eligible for health & dental insurance, a continuing education stipend, tuition assistance for Karen Pryor Academy, and retirement contributions.

Crossbones Dog Academy is a dog training & daycare facility with a unique Day School program that combines daycare and training for dogs and puppies. At this time, we are looking for full-time Dog Training Assistants (40 hours per week) who want to make positive dog training their career. Interested candidates MUST be available to work a set schedule Monday through Friday of either 6:40AM-3:10PM or 10AM-6:30PM, as well as weekday evening availability to attend dog training classes.

Tasks include, but are not limited to, supervising educational playgroups of dogs solo (1-10 dogs) or with one other attendant (10-15 dogs), indoors and outdoors, in all weather and temperatures. This includes cleaning up after the dogs, rewarding dogs for good behavior, gently but firmly interrupting and redirecting dogs engaging in undesirable behavior, taking pictures and videos of the dogs for social media content, and reporting the dogs’ behavior verbally and in writing. Dog Training Assistants also help as needed with filling food-dispensing toys and distributing them to dogs, taking dogs outside for individual potty breaks, and cleaning the facility.

After learning our dog training curriculum hands-on from our training staff and demonstrating understanding, Dog Training Assistants are promoted (with a raise) to Junior Dog Trainers, completing daytime training sessions for dogs in our training programs.

Candidates for this position must have…

  • 1+ year employment experience working with animals, preferably dogs
  • Previous experience with clicker training and positive reinforcement dog training
  • Passion to learn more about teaching dogs and their owners
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • A strong desire to be part of a team committed to personal and professional excellence. We strive to be great dog trainers, great dog owners, and great people!

Pay is hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and starting at $18 per hour. Full-time employees are eligible for health & dental insurance, a continuing education stipend, tuition assistance for Karen Pryor Academy, and retirement contributions.

  • Love training dogs & teaching people
  • Believe in a positive reinforcement based, LIMA approach to dog training
  • Are comfortable teaching group classes, private training lessons, and remote lessons via Zoom
  • Want to spend some of your time training dogs hands-on, without the owner present
  • Have a strong desire to be part of a team committed to personal and professional excellence
  • Have at least one of the following: 2+ years experience teaching group classes, private lessons, and/or behavior consulting (with professional & client references) AND/OR have earned KPA CTP, CPDT-KA or higher, or other comparable R+ training certification from an independent organization
