Crossbones Dog Academy is a dog training & daycare facility with a unique Day School program that combines daycare and training for dogs and puppies. At this time, we are looking for full-time Dog Training Assistants (40 hours per week) who want to make positive dog training their career. Interested candidates MUST be available to work a set schedule Monday through Friday of either 6:40AM-3:10PM or 10AM-6:30PM, as well as weekday evening availability to attend dog training classes.
Tasks include, but are not limited to, supervising educational playgroups of dogs solo (1-10 dogs) or with one other attendant (10-15 dogs), indoors and outdoors, in all weather and temperatures. This includes cleaning up after the dogs, rewarding dogs for good behavior, gently but firmly interrupting and redirecting dogs engaging in undesirable behavior, taking pictures and videos of the dogs for social media content, and reporting the dogs’ behavior verbally and in writing. Dog Training Assistants also help as needed with filling food-dispensing toys and distributing them to dogs, taking dogs outside for individual potty breaks, and cleaning the facility.
After learning our dog training curriculum hands-on from our training staff and demonstrating understanding, Dog Training Assistants are promoted (with a raise) to Junior Dog Trainers, completing daytime training sessions for dogs in our training programs.
