About Our Dog Agility Program
Dog agility is the most popular dog sport in the United States. It’s a timed event where dogs run, jump, climb, and weave through a variety of obstacles in a set order. Each course is different, so the challenges never end!
Crossbones has agility classes for all dogs, from total beginner through experienced competitor, taught by Katherine Ostiguy, an international dog agility competitor and national finalist with 15 years experience in the sport. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or have competed for years, we can help you take your agility training to the next level!

How to Get Started
First, read our blog post: Getting Started in Our Dog Agility Classes
If you’re a current student, you can get started in Dog Sport Fundamentals, a 6-week linear class. If it doesn’t fit into your schedule, you can schedule 30-minute agility private lessons instead.
If you are new to Crossbones, Katherine can work with you in private lessons. Email us and tell us about your dog’s training history (the more detail, the better) and we’ll recommend how to get started.

Skill Building Classes
These 6-week linear classes have specific prerequisites & age requirements. Beyond that, they are open to dogs learning agility for the first time, as well as competition dogs who need to improve their performance on a particular obstacle or skill.
ASB classes are offered on a rotating schedule. If the topic you’re looking for isn’t on the schedule right now, check back in 3-4 weeks!
Agility Skill Building: Jumps
Learn foundation jumping skills, including building up to full height, specialty jumps (spreads, panel, tire, etc.), basic sequencing, and verbal jumping cues. Also learn how to use cones to teach obstacle commitment and independence, as well as handling basic handling maneuvers like crosses as well as threadles and backsides.
Minimum Age: 11 months.
Prerequisite: Attend Dog Sport Fundamentals or get permission from Katherine.
Agility Skill Building: Contacts
Learn foundation contact skills for both stopped & running contacts, such as a running paw target, multi nose-touch, plank work, wobble boards, and introduction to the teeter, then apply these skills to the full contact obstacles.
Minimum Age: 6 months.
Prerequisite: Attend Dog Sport Fundamentals or get permission from Katherine.
Competition Prep Classes
This 6-week linear class is designed for dog & handler teams who are fluent in all obstacle performance and are ready to practice sequencing obstacles and preparing to compete.
If your dog is not yet fluent in each obstacle, take Skill Building classes until they have a solid understanding.
